Who are Stern Studios?
Set up back in the 70's by Tom Trudgian who owned a small flat and found it impossible to get an agent to sell it for him (probably too much work for the fee, especially as back then it was almost impossible to get a mortgage on a small flat!).
Having decided "Trudgian Studios" didn't have the right ring to it, he named it after his wife's maiden name, who he eventually persuaded to leave her job as a city solicitor and join him! To this day it is still a family run agency.
It is still the case today that many agents simply do not
focus on studios and one beds as they earn so much more commission from
selling big flats and houses. For almost 30 years, Stern Studios however
has been dedicated to selling small London flats. No lettings, no mortgages,
no flat management, nothing else! We are a focussed specialist seller of
studio and one bed flats all over London, and this is why vendors and purchasers
come back to us again and again.
Why should you use us?
The major benefit of selling your flat through us is that
you know every person looking through us is specifically
looking to buy a one bed or studio.
This means not only will we hopefully have access to more buyers in general
for your size of flat, but also they are far less likely to be of the "Oh,
I thought this would be bigger" variety which would be sent around
otherwise.
All this should equate to a faster, smoother sale in which we genuinely aim to get your asking price. We feel this is better than a long drawn out sale procedure of non-specific multiple showings which inevitably leads to the dropping of the initial asking price/valuation, which is a tactic some agents are known to adopt and very depressing for the vendor.
We all work together and whoever answers the phone should be able to help you. As experts in small properties, we also know the best way to coax a sale through, not only in simply finding a buyer, but also in the often-overlooked area between an offer and completion. This is in many ways just as important a skill of an agency as it is just as relevant as an offer to the sale and often trickier!

Over the nearly 30 years of working exclusively in this sector, we have struck up a number of lasting relationships with purchasers, many of whom say will only deal with us (and land up being the next generation of vendors).
Our main source of buyers is from our own constantly updated
contact list of around 6,000 people actively buying in London (again, all
looking for studios or one beds).
Every new flat in some ones price range (regardless of location), is emailed
to them immediately, along with a description, floor plan and times of the
first viewing. They all know to get their act together and try to see it
on the first viewing otherwise it will probably be under offer.
Our property descriptions are short, to the point, relevant
and above all effective.
Stern Studios try to give a real feel for the flat, which is why we've always
used floor plans. Photographs are a bad idea with small flats as they almost
always mislead which results in wasted time and disappointment to both seller
and buyer.
We also maintain a very high presence on the Internet, advertising on all the major property search engines including Rightmove, Find-a-property, Homes-online, the Evening Standard's Homes&property and others, publications including the Sunday Times and occasional other mediums such as the tube.
While other methods such as flashy café shop-fronts and estate agent boards may attract more vendors, it has very little effect on attracting serious small flat buyers, which is what we focus on!
